"Bringing Art to Life with Precision and Passion"
The Story of Print Art
Print Art is the vision of John Botton, a fine art photographer and master of digital giclée printing. With a Fellowship from the Photographic Society of New Zealand and a self confessed geek, John has dedicated his career to the art and science of fine printing.
His journey began in 1994 when he founded Print Works, a digital print bureau. Over the decades, he has witnessed firsthand the evolution of digital printing—seeing inkjet technology and fine art paper advance to new heights of quality and precision.
The New Zealand Chapter
Then, on April 1, 2015, John took a leap of faith. In the double garage of his home, he launched Print Art—equipped with a large-format printer, a cutting and matting table, and a camera set up for artwork digitization. The business began with a trade—John swapped a tripod for a failing 27-inch iMac, restored it, and got to work printing stunning photographs and artwork.
For two years, artists and photographers visited his garage “studio,” where they were greeted not only by John but also by his two bullmastiff dogs. As word spread about his impeccable printing and dedication to customer service, his client base grew, and so did his collection of printers.
Moving On
Eventually, it was time for an upgrade. John moved Print Art to a dedicated studio in Takapuna, where he now operates with:
- A printing studio—constantly expanding with new printers
- A digitization room—capturing artwork with precision
- A cutting, matting, and framing area—perfecting the presentation of each piece
And that old 27-inch iMac? Still running!
Through passion, precision, and a relentless pursuit of quality, Print Art has become a trusted name in fine art printing. Whether you’re an artist, photographer, or creative professional, John and the team are here to bring your vision to life.
