Meet John Botton – The creator and driver behind Print Art! Someone who loves art, loves a laugh, loves the bush and most of all really enjoys people!
The Man In The Driving Seat!
John moved from South Africa to New Zealand in 2014, following his family to new shores. Back in South Africa, he had successfully run a real estate portal before semi-retiring to enjoy the good life—honing his photography skills, printing his own and friends’ artworks, and working in a local photographic gallery. But when family called, he and his wife Tina (his partner of 40 years) embraced a new adventure—and the rest is history!
Owning and running Print Art is not just a job for John – He LOVES it!!
He loves the interaction with people, he loves being surrounded by art and he really enjoys working with his amazing team he has built around him!
Beyond channeling his creativity into the business, John dedicates time to his own artistic pursuits. Each year, he produces a major body of photographic work—this year, he’s preparing a series on the theme of Antithesis for the 2025 Auckland Festival of Photography.
John is also passionate about restoring vintage motorcycles. He’s often spotted riding his beloved 1974 Honda 550 and will soon embark on restoring a 1972 Honda 750 Four. Whether cruising back country roads on his classic bikes or peddling his way through new landscapes, he finds freedom in the journey. Recently, he spent 12 days cycling 1200 km along the North Islands amazing bike trails and back country roads to Wellington, embracing the open road, meeting new people, and soaking in the New Zealand summer.
At home, John’s bullmastiff, Kacey—the newest addition to the family—keeps him in check, especially when he gets a little too enthusiastic with his guitar playing. Tina, along with their son Nick, daughter Jossie, their partners, and five grandchildren, are all quite grateful for Kacey’s musical quality control!
The team at Print Art sends a HUGE congratulations to John as Print Art’s 10th birthday approaches next week! Building and growing Print Art into what it is today has been an exciting journey, and John’s calm, creative nature makes him an absolute pleasure to work with.
